Treating Infertility with Acupuncture

Fertility complications are quite common in women and are often remedied with a few simple dietary changes and changes in hormonal balance. If you are a woman struggling with infertility, it is important to consider how you can possibly self-treat the complication before turning to more advanced forms of infertility treatment.

Acupuncture has long been used as a complimentary form of healthcare and supportive in the primary care of many diseases and conditions. In women who have complications with infertility, acupuncture may provide some additional therapeutic benefit when coupled with diet and exercise changes.

If you are struggling with infertility, ask your doctor about the use of acupuncture. While most physicians of traditional medicine are not familiar with acupuncture in detail, it is recommended to get your doctor’s “clearance” to engage in acupuncture before you opt to do so. Because acupuncture is believed to provide a supportive role to re-balancing the internal qi and chi, you may find that acupuncture will provide the one additional form of medicine to help move you into a more fertile state.

Using strategic placement of needle along your acupuncture points, your acupuncturist will provide some additional supportive role in improving your fertility health. By possibly changing your energy levels, promoting blood pressure regulations, and even by increasing the release of endorphins many women find that infertility is overcome simply when they begin to feel better.

While acupuncture is not a “cure all” for infertility, it is definitely worth considering as you look for ways to improve your fertility levels. Before considering all types of advanced fertility treatment, consider using acupuncture as part of your initial phase of fertility treatment and you may find that it is effective at helping you to conceive. In many women, the complications of fertility are related to internal imbalances of qi and chi and, once improved, there are many health advantages.

Even when you require more advanced traditional forms of fertility treatment, acupuncture may provide a supportive role in this line of care as well. As always, your doctor should give you the clearance to pursue such treatment and should be informed when acupuncture is being used in your health care plan.
